The Counsellor in Training (CIT) program is an opportunity for secondary school students to learn soft and hard skills that will prepare them for a camp counsellor position in future years. A CIT will develop leadership and critical thinking skills while earning volunteer hours. The CIT position provides youth with opportunities to gain experience and skills from our leaders while creating positive, memorable moments for campers from their community. A CIT volunteer is responsible for assisting counsellors while working toward instructing basic activities for campers themselves, under supervision. A CIT should be enthusiastic with an outgoing and engaging personality while demonstrating a positive, supportive attitude every day.
Camp STEAM will train CITs on its program and provide guidance for best practices while working at camp. CITs will work directly with counsellors and campers and help make Camp STEAM a fun place to be.
